Private Schools for Troubled Teens

Do you have a troubled teen? Have you tried parent teen contracts? Have you tried parent coaching, parenting dvds, and everything else you can think of?

If you have a troubled teen and don't know what to do for help - maybe you need to consider a specialty school, private boarding school, or a residential treatment center.

Specialty Schools can help teens with a learning disability or another disorder that hampers their learning experience. Sometimes these schools specialize in LD students, ADHD, Aspergers, or other issues.

Private boarding schools can assist parents in need as well. Usually these are schools for teens with mild behavior disorders or conduct disorders. They can help with those that are acting out in school or at home and general defiance to authority.

Residential treatment centers are fully licensed centers where parents can place a teen that is in need of therapy. Sometimes RTCs are licensed drug treatment centers as well - so they can help with addiction. They may offer a 12 step program and counselors that specialize in addiction and teen drug abuse.

Find the best option for your teen today. Sometimes the problems are so complex it's impossible to sort them all out at home. Professional help is available.

Defiant Teen?

Do you have a defiant teen? Is your teen struggling in school or at home? There are many options for parents that range from behavior contracts to residential treatment centers.

The cost of in-home options to help your teen can range anywhere from $20 for contracts, $300 for parenting DVD programs, and around $1200 for a DVD/Workbook/Parent Coaching program. These are all good ideas - you might try the least expensive first and work your way up as needed.

Then if you have tried everything - you may need to find a residential treatment center for defiant or troubled teens. Defiant teens may have ODD or other behavior disorders. Our section on Parenting Teens has articles that cover all these topics. From finding in home options, learning what is normal behavior, and finding the right troubled teen program.

The residential options range and there are major differences between programs so make sure you do your research.

There are many challenges in parenting a teen. If you have other ideas on how to help other parents of a defiant teen we'd love to hear them - go to our site and contact us! Maybe we can write an article on the subject or post the idea here in our blog.

Good Luck!
